PIECES is a series of works in oil pastel depicting shapes created from pieces of paper. This series, which can be seen as a new beginning for Katsumi Komagata, started when Komagata set up his studio in Ichinoseki, Iwate Prefecture, in 2021. Walking around the city, Komagata accidentally encounters white-tailed deer, antelope, foxes and raccoon dogs; swans fly away in flocks at the end of winter, and in spring, warblers begin to sing. In the ONLINE SHOP, Komagata creates his own artworks every day, just as he did when he flew to the USA to explore new lands. The works are part of the popular POP SCOPE series.
