[Non] Gaze

[Non] Gaze

(Non)Gaze

(Non)Gaze is a book born from the question,
“Whose body is ours?”

It confronts the structure in which women’s bodies have long been objectified within the relationship of seeing and being seen.
Through this work, the artist attempts to reclaim the body—fragmented, fixed, and defined by the gaze—as something that once again belongs to oneself.

The book features a distinctive structure:
a black stocking cover and a handmade bolt binding, with each bolt individually fastened by hand.

By using the included wrench to remove the bolts, readers are invited to dismantle and reassemble the “fixed” book themselves, transforming reading into a physical and conceptual experience.

To read, to touch, to dismantle—
these acts themselves unsettle the relationship between the one who looks and the one who is looked at.
